Introduce Yourself

OK people - tell us a bit about you, how you heard about progbox and what you like about it.

I'll start ;)

I'm mrben aka Ben, from Glasgow. I heard about progbox on the Ubuntu UK podcast first, and then again on LugRadio (and possibly a few folk on #lugradio too - I don't remember too clearly).

I'm a big fan of video editing under Linux, and it's been good to chat about the techniques involved, but also I really enjoy the content of the show - really interesting stuff. There's definitely stuff you can cover in a vidcast that you can't in a podcast.

Excellent Work

Hey just thought id add my voice of encouragement regarding the show ;) liked the bit about cvs, nice and simple, and provides anyone with a little of the basics so they can go an experiment themselves ;)

I'm a software engineer (bottle washer) based in Northern Ireland and would be interested in seeing future installments of the show (subscribed to it within the miro player) ;)

Myself

Hello everybody, I'm Xander, aka Xvedejas (Eks - ved - DAY - yahss) from Texas. I've always been interested in computers since my first, which was a windows '95. I switched to Linux about a year ago and have been learning more and more about it ever since. I began with Ubuntu Feisty Fawn and now mainly use Linux Mint 5. I like anything from Openbox to Xfce to KDE, and Arch Linux is very nice.

I and somebody I know are working to create a distribution from Arch Linux, but we've run into an obstacle. We can't get any installer that will work with our system. We've tried Anaconda, to no luck, and even wrote our own installer, which wasn't very good. If you have any idea of a good GUI installer for Linux, it would help us a lot. If so, you can contact me at xvedejas@gmail.com

I found Progbox when I found Miro. Miro seemed like a nice application, it was in the ubuntu repos, and I downloaded it. I searched through the guide and just subscribed to ones I liked, and that's basically how I found Progbox.

Hi I'm Valsum from Madrid,

Hi I'm Valsum from Madrid, Spain. New in the GNU/Linux world since Ubuntu Gutsy, and a computer geek since I was 12, I like spending some of my free time learning more about computers (and the wonderful FOSS movement). Progbox is great for that.

Intro->>>Xavier2010

Hi! I am Glen aka xavier2010, from Pass Christian, Mississippi (United States). I believe I found out about progbox while searching for linux podcasts on the Miro player, and with Pete's approval, I will hopefully be the host of the distro review corner of progbox.

I have been beating my head on computers for about 11 years now, starting with Dos 5.11 and Windows 3.1. I have been a linux enthusiast for about two years, and Ubuntu "hardy heron" is currently my more dominant desktop solution except for some things that I need XP for.

Being young in the linux venture, I feel I have to bring to the table on the review corner, a fresh look at the newest linux distros and where they are headed. Since I am not used to a non-x environment, I feel that I also have the ability to be critical in a positive and negative way of different aspects of any o.s. while having enough know-how under my belt to test most features of a linux distro either with or without an x11 equivalent.

Happy lnxing!
